The Guthrie County Supervisors met in regular session Tuesday morning.

The Board discussed the possibility of a campground and all-terrain vehicle (ATV) park in Bear Grove Township. The area being looked at is already parceled off, so there is no need to split a parcel of land, and the facilities would include a camping area, ATV park and walking trails, with the possibility of adding some features in the future.

The Board is interested in having a recreational area and a place for ATVs on the western side of the county, as none currently exist. The individuals looking at running the grounds will be talking with the County Adjustment Board and seeing if it is fiscally possible to start up. The Board of Supervisors then discussed the emergency medical services ballot measure in the upcoming November general election. They approved the motion accepting the proposals from Panora, Stuart and Adair Fire and Rescue units subject to negotiations, after it was brought to the Board’s attention that they hadn’t done that, just approved a motion to work with the three EMS services.

The Board discussed feedback they’d received after a meeting that was held last week with representatives from the three EMS agencies, along with townships and cities in the county. Supervisor Brian Johnson wanted to get language put in place, and mentioned a key goal for him is getting an ambulance stationed in Guthrie Center and seeing what it would take to do so, while Supervisor Mike Dickson mentioned that the financial side of the process was something that should be figured out as soon as possible, so that they had that information for the services when they enter negotiations. The Board then approved the public notice to voters on the EMS levy ballot measure.
