A project that honors the longtime principal of Perry High School is now finished.

Perry lost High School Principal Dan Marburger following the January 4th shooting and the school board has been in talks to properly recognize him. The board came to the conclusion to rename the high school gymnasium “The Dan Marburger Court.” Perry Activities Director Tina Lutterman tells Raccoon Valley Radio that it’s hard to think of Perry Schools without Marburger.

“If I had to think of one word to describe him, the word is ally. I feel like he had your back as a teacher and as a coach. He didn’t always tell you what you wanted to hear, but he kept it real and he wanted the best for our program and all of our students here. Such a supporter of all the activities.”

Perry Superintendent Clark Wicks previously admitted that the court’s target completion date was by the end of July. The court is finished and Lutterman says she’s already seen it.

“I did get a sneak peek in there and I really feel like it’s a fitting tribute to a man who valued education, activities, students, success, and Perry. It’s a nice way to remember him.”

Marburger was the principal at Perry High School from 1997 to 2024.
