The Jefferson Parks and Recreation Department has more youth programs coming up soon.
According to JPRD kids that are going to be second through sixth graders this fall are invited to the first ever pickleball program for youth. Participants will learn about basics of the sport such as scoring, the rules and court strategies. The program will be held Monday, Wednesday and Friday, August 12th, 14th, and 16th from 10-11:30am at the Greene County Community Center. The cost is $15 for community center members and $20 for non-members. The deadline to register is Friday, August 9th.
Additionally, there will be a Junior High Cheerleading Camp for fifth through eighth grade boys and girls. This is an advanced program for the kids that attended the Mini-Cheerleading Camp and they will learn more complex routines, jumps and stunts. Practices will be held on August 19th and 21st at the community center, with a performance slated for the home varsity football game on August 30th. Deb Wolterman and the 2024 high school cheerleaders will lead this program with the cost of $20 for community center members and $25 for non-members. The deadline to sign up is August 15th.
