The Greene County Board of Supervisors met on Monday in regular session.
There was one agenda item that the Board approved, which was awarding a contract for a bridge replacement project. The Board approved Godbersen-Smith Construction Company with a bid of $2,088,602 to replace the bridge on South Grimmell Road over the North Raccoon River in Jefferson. The project will use funding from both the city of Jefferson as well as the county.
County Engineer Wade Weiss said there were five applicants and the engineer’s project estimate was $2.9 million. He noted that the county has had a positive working relationship with the awarded contractor and that they have done bridge projects in the county, including the Hyde Park bridge and the overpass bridge on Highway 30 near Grand Junction.
Weiss hoped to have a pre-construction meeting with the contractor soon and possibly start working on the bridge before September.
