Food insecurity is prevalent throughout the state of Iowa, and the Perry Chamber is doing its best to support people within the community.
Chamber Director Lynsi Pasutti tells Raccoon Valley Radio food insecurity is nothing new to the world, but notices that the issue is expanding. She says that the Perry Food Pantry is still seeing record numbers of people showing up to get food. Pasutti reminds residents that the weekly Farmer’s Markets offer assistance with food insecurity.
“We do accept SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) EBT and Double Up Food Bucks at the markets, food pantry vouchers, and then with the Iowa PBS Kids coming, they are handing out $10 to each kid to use with market bucks.”
Pasutti admits there are many resources available for people to take advantage of and encourages them to reach out to the chamber at (515)-465-4601 with any questions.
