The new Guthrie County Jail has been in service for a little over a year now.

Sheriff Marty Arganbright says that the new facilities have been open since June 10, 2023, and of course there were a few small things that have needed attention along the way, but that everything has been running smoothly for the most part. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio about an important milestone that they recently had.

“The jail is up to code. We just had it inspected, the new jail, and it meets the code requirements. The old jail never did, so that was a good inspection at last.”

Arganbright mentions that security for the new facilities is one of the things that has been helpful, as most everything can be run from a couple of different points, with the jailers and dispatchers working the controls.
