The lighted bridge along the Raccoon River Valley Trail in the City of Adel is currently closed until this fall.

The Raccoon River Valley Trail Association explains that the bridge, which is located on the east side of Adel, is going through rehabilitation for the next couple of months. Dallas County Conservation Director Mike Wallace tells Raccoon Valley Radio that the project is apart of the rehabilitation plan that’s been in place for the last five years to pave certain portions of the bridge. He illustrates the work that’s been done already along the bridge in Dallas County.

“We just completed our segment from Redfield to Linden, that’s been closed down since last fall and that’s all open now with new bridge railings, and new bridge decks and brand new trail surface. We did Adel to Redfield a couple years before that, so we’re just inching along trying to upgrade all of our bridges from Linden to Waukee.”

Wallace indicates that the contractor for the project, Minturn Incorporated, must shutdown the lighted bridge area to avoid any disruptions with the construction. Work is currently underway and the bridge is set to reopen around mid-October.
