Two Greene County High School softball players have been named to the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference All-Conference Honorable Mention list. Junior Payton Kokenge and freshman Sara Morlan were the Rams recognized for their efforts during the 2024 season. Coach Tom Kennedy’s Rams ended the season with an 11 game losing streak and went 4-20 overall, 3-11 in the conference, which tied them with two other teams for last place in the eight team league.
Kokenge and Morlan were the only Greene County players with more than 10 varsity at-bats that had batting averages above the .300 mark. Kokenge, mainly playing third base for the Rams, batted .346 and was a left-handed slap hitting leadoff batter. She led the team in runs scored at 16 and in total hits with 27. Morlan batted .328, mainly played shortstop, and had the only home run the Rams hit this season. She led the team in runs batted in with 13.
The Rams had no seniors in the lineup in 2024.
