The Panora City Council met in regular session Monday night.
The Council started the meeting by first hearing from residents on the possible storage container ordinance in public forum, and heard opinions from both sides of the topic. They then tabled a decision on the second reading of the ordinance to address conversation points brought up in the public forum.
The Council also approved a resolution allowing possession and consumption of alcoholic canned beverages in designated areas for Panorama Days, the use of a fire hydrant/firetruck at Michael Mills Park on August 2nd to fill a dunk tank, being the fiscal agent for the Panora Chamber’s Main Street Audio project and merit/pay changes for city employees. They approved the 2024 Southeast Load Transfer electric project, a policy for electronic access to the Community Center and Veteran’s Auditorium and rental rates for the Community Center and Veteran’s Auditorium.
The Council then approved an ordinance related to fishing/jumping off the bridge on South Street over the Raccoon River by Lenon Mill Park, as it is seen as a safety and health issue, and waived the need for a second and third reading. They also approved the seventh change order for Jackson Street improvements to the amount of $2,694, and the eleventh pay application for the same project for the amount of $60,923.69.
