Several Greene County 4-H’ers have been selected to compete in an upcoming show.
Greene County ISU Extension 4-H and Youth Coordinator Samantha Hardaway says eight 4-H’ers are heading to Nevada this Saturday for the Heartland Throwdown.
“The Heartland Throwdown is a really great opportunity for those youth who are selected as champions in their divisions. So for example, like an overall breeding animal or an overall market animal, they’re selected to compete at the Heartland Throwdown. So this is a regional show.”
Hardaway says Stella Lautner, William Thorp, Lauren Oakes, Tatum Tucker, Taylor McDowell, Brent Dennhardt, Emmalin Wright and Avril Shahan were the champions for either a market or breeding animal. She adds that if a Greene County 4-H’er wins in their respective division at the Heartland Throwdown, they get to advance to the All Iowa Showdown.
The contest will take place at 1pm on Saturday at the Story County Fairgrounds in Nevada in the main show ring. The counties for the Heartland Throwdown include Greene, Dallas, Polk, Story, Marshall, Calhoun, Guthrie and Jasper.
