The local food pantry in Jefferson recently had a generous donation from a non-profit organization.
The Greene County Cattlemen’s Association donated $2,000 of beef to the Greene County Action Resource Center late last month and ARC Manager Shirley Haupert was grateful to receive several cases of beef.
“We’re approached by them and they had some meat, they said, ‘What do you need?’ and I said, ‘hamburger,’ which is our most popular item, you know you can do a lot with hamburger, and they donated over 400 pounds of hamburger.”
Haupert says another huge benefit that is no more was the Tyson plant in Perry was donating pork loins to their food pantry once per month. She adds that they will continue to accept food and monetary donations throughout the year. Donations are accepted when ARC is open on Wednesdays from 9-11:30am by dropping it off at their location in Jefferson, or anytime by contacting Haupert at 515-386-8168.
