The Adel Public Library is in the middle of its summer reading program but it is quickly coming to an end.

The library’s theme for the summer reading program relates to the world by traveling to different regions. Patron Services Manager Amy Puck tells Raccoon Valley Radio that approximately 250 people have completed their summer reading. She stresses those that haven’t finished have until next Friday, July 26th to get it done. Puck explains the requirements for each age group.

“10 minutes six times for babies, 30 minutes 12 times for children and teens, and adults you read for an hour 12 times in order to finish that.”

Puck asks participants to bring in their summer reading passports, which will give children an opportunity to pick out free books plus adults to win fun prizes with a raffle. Puck throws in another incentive if children complete their summer reading.

“Once the kids finish their summer reading program, they get a pass to the Summer Reading Pool Party at the Adel Aquatic Center.”

Puck shares that the pool party coincides with the final day to submit the summer reading, which is next Friday. Additional questions can be directed to the Adel Public Library at (515)-993-3512.
