A Jefferson man was arrested after allegedly assaulting a pregnant woman.
According to court documents, on July 12th at 7:44pm Jefferson Police Officers responded to a domestic incident in the 500 block of West State Street. When officers arrived on scene, they saw the suspect, 41-year-old Michael Wagoner dragging the pregnant victim out of the home by the hair, while displaying a firearm in a threatening manner at the officers.
Court documents show the officers drew their service weapons before Wagoner accidentally dropped his firearm, which made him release the victim as he went back into the house. Officers saw a frightened child was still inside the home as officers tried to gain entrance through the front door. When attempts failed, officers went to a glass side door where they saw Wagoner. The lead officer holstered his service weapon and had his taser out and ordered Wagoner to step away from the door. When Wagoner didn’t comply, the officer used his baton, broke a hole in the glass and discharged his taser on Wagoner.
Wagoner became incapacitated from the taser and complied to being arrested and handcuffed. Wagoner was charged with two Class D Felonies for interference with official acts-dangerous weapon and his first offense for domestic abuse assault of a pregnant individual with intent to inflict serious injury.
Wagoner was then taken to Greene County Medical Center for his wounds from the taser. Once discharged from the medical center, court documents show Wagoner was transported and booked into the Greene County Jail. Additionally, there is a no contact order in place with the victim.
