On July 8th a Griswold man was arrested in Adair and accused of theft.
According to court documents, an Adair County Deputy had been advised by a Cass County Deputy that the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office was looking for a gray Chevrolet Silverado pulling a white trailer that was allegedly stolen out of Pottawatomie County. The Adair County Deputy observed a vehicle matching the description at the Casey’s General Store in Stuart, but after searching the plates found it was not reported stolen, but licensed to a Guthrie County resident. The deputy followed the vehicle to the Chuckwagon Restaurant in Adair.
Law enforcement spoke to the driver, 29 year old Kyle Wilson, who claimed he picked up the trailer from “a garage off an alleyway.” Court documents show that investigators contacted the trailer owner who said Wilson didn’t have permission to have the trailer. Wilson was then arrested. The Cass County Sheriff’s Office K9 Unit assisted in searching the vehicle and found suspected drug-related items. Deputies also found a license plate from a stolen trailer from Shelby County that was found in Elk Horn. The trailer was returned to the rightful owners, and the Silverado was impounded by Cass County for further investigation.
Wilson was charged with Second Degree Theft, a Class D Felony, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, a simple misdemeanor. He was booked into the Adair County Jail. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring more information as it becomes official.
