An Adair man was arrested on July 10th for an alleged domestic abuse incident.

According to court documents, an Adair County Deputy was dispatched to a residence on Stuart Street in Adair for a report of domestic assault. After arriving on scene, the deputy made contact with the victim, who told him that the suspect, 39 year old Luke Hommes, had sprayed them with a fire extinguisher, then struck the victim with the extinguisher. Physical wounds and other evidence from the scene fit the victim’s account of the incident. Hommes left the scene before law enforcement arrived and he was not available for immediate questioning.

Court documents show that due to a prior conviction of Domestic Battery in Florida, the charge Hommes faces was upgraded from Assault Causing Bodily Injury Second Offense, an Aggravated Misdemeanor, to Domestic Abuse Assault Second Offense, a Class D Felony. He was arrested and booked into the Adair County Jail. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring more information as it becomes official.
