Dallas Center – Grimes softball will be on the diamond tonight in their class 4A Region 3 semifinal game when they take on the Carroll Tigers from Dallas Center. DCG comes into the matchup with a 30-8 record while Carroll enters with a 8-23 mark.

DCG will enter as one of the top teams in the state, and will be looking to make it to the state tournament after missing it last year. They finished runner up in the 2022 state tournament.

DCG has been tremendous this season in all three facets of the game in pitching, hitting, and fielding. DCG is averaging eight runs per game and giving up 2.9. They are one of the best fielding teams in the state with a team fielding percentage of .959.

It will be a memorable postseason for this Mustang group, as they are under the direction of coach Steve Schlafke, who is retiring after the season. He has coached 48 years with 22 of those years coming at Dallas Center – Grimes. He has won 1,377 games, and will be hoping his club can win five more and bring home a state championship.
