The Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Baseball team beat Ballard 6-2 Friday night to move on to the second round of the Class 3A Substate 2 bracket.
The Tigers faced a familiar opponent in the Bombers with ADM jumping on top in the first inning after a leadoff double from Rhylan Stine-Smith, who later scored in the inning. In the second inning, Freshman Jack Siefken came into score after being hit by a pitch. Credit to Ballard as they battled back with one run scored in the bottom of the second from Beau Warg and one in the third from Owen Greco to tie the game at 2-2.
The game remained that score until Stine-Smith blasted a solo home run in the center to give the Tigers the 3-2 advantage. That was a momentum shift as ADM held that lead until the top of the seventh when the Tigers got several runners on base and was able to score three of them. The runners that scored included Reed Ausdemore, Cade Fisher, and Ethan Uglum. ADM played great defense to secure the 6-2 victory.
Stine-Smith lead the Tigers going 4-5 with two singles, a double, and a solo home run. Alex Jensen finished 3-4 with a two-run RBI Double.
On the mound for the Tigers was Grant Jansen who finished with seven innings pitched, allowed four hits, two runs, and struck out nine batters. Losing pitcher was Ballard’s Eli Rouse, who went 4.2 innings pitched, allowed four hits, three runs, walked two batters, and had eight strikeouts. Greco pitched 1 3/4 innings, allowed one hit, one run, walked one and struck out two. Jacob Luster finished 0.5 innings, allowed four hits, two runs, and recorded one strikeout for the Bombers.
ADM now improves to 16-14 overall and battle another Raccoon River Conference with North Polk on Monday in Alleman. The game will start at 7pm with pregame at 6:45pm on K107.9 KKRF.
