The Guthrie Center City Council met in regular session Monday night.
The Council approved the contract with RGE for the annual exam for fiscal year 2023-24, and set a public hearing for July 22nd on the sale of City interest in real estate. They also heard from Compliance Officer Wes Clark on some nuisance items, and reviewed an update packet from the Public Works Department.
City Clerk Kris Arrasmith shared that the Mitchell Park projects have been completed and that a lot at Cameron Flats has been sold and should be approved at the next Utility Board meeting. She added that Dollar General Corporate didn’t file the proper paperwork for their tobacco license renewal with the Iowa Alcoholic Beverages Division.
Arrasmith mentioned that this was a statewide issue, as the form that was submitted to cities all over the state was outdated. She said that she was working with both the local Dollar General Manager and their corporate office to resolve the issue, and noted that until the proper paperwork is filed, Dollar General cannot sell tobacco products.
