The Dallas County Fair features plenty of fun activities, with tomorrow being the fair queen coronation.

The third candidate running for the Dallas County Fair Queen is Maitlyn Bucklin-Pagano. Bucklin-Pagano is a 2024 graduate from Waukee Northwest and notes that she is a big runner. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio that her passion is strong with agriculture education, and how that would help transition in her role as fair queen.

“This year, I’ve really focused on spreading that and spreading ag literacy throughout our community, and throughout my school district, and I would feel like this would just be a great way to continue that path of advocacy.”

While at Waukee-Northwest, Bucklin-Pagano was a FFA officer, a member of the cross country team, and a creator of the “Little Ag Library,” which donates ag literacy books to local preschools. Bucklin-Pagano will be attending the University of Iowa to study elementary education, in addition to being one of the Iowa’s Women’s Rowing teams first legacy athletes, who will follow in the footsteps of her mother.

Besides Bucklin-Pagano, there are four other candidates running for the Dallas County Fair Queen including Kelsey Greenslade (Adel-DeSoto-Minburn), Sophie Meekma (Dallas Center-Grimes), Courtney Wojtowicz (DCG), and Brinna Orr (Woodward-Granger). The Fair Queen Coronation is set to happen at 3pm tomorrow at the Dallas County Fairgrounds, 28057 Fairground Road, in Adel.
