After a team batting average above the .300 mark for much of the season, the Greene County softball team has seen it’s BA drop to .273 entering Regional tournament play tomorrow night in Monroe vs. Class 3A number 8 PCM. The Rams are 4-19 and have lost their last 10 games.
Among Rams with at least 20 varsity at-bats, the leading average is .346 from junior Payton Kokenge, followed by freshman Sara Morlan at .312 and sophomore Kaycee Pittman at an even .300. Just outside that group is sophomore Addison Gannon with a .290 average. Morlan has the only home run the Rams have this season and she’s the runs batted in leader with 13.
First pitch in Monroe is set for 7 p.m. with coverage after 6:30 p.m. on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com. The Mustangs are 2-0 this season in Heart of Iowa Activities Conference play vs. the Rams and PCM won the conference title by one game over West Marshall (State Center).
