The Dallas County Board of Supervisors met in regular session on Tuesday.

During the meeting, Perry City Administrator Sven Peterson gave an overview of several projects that are happening in the community. He discussed the progress of the Frog Creek Restoration, Perry Municipal Airport, the Iowa Street Stormwater, and Raccoon River Valley Trail to High Trestle Trail projects coming to a completion. Peterson also mentioned the recent closure of the Tyson Foods Pork Plant in Perry and how it can potentially affect the housing market and school district. He reiterated that the main goal is related to helping people by assisting with jobs, health, and education to hopefully keep residents in the community.

Other items on the agenda that were approved included a new sheriff’s vehicle request after Dallas County Sheriff Adam Infante said that a deputy hit a deer recently. The board approved the request for the vehicle purchase in the amount of $45,000. A resolution for the precinct election officials pay rate was approved as presented and Dallas County was asked to be a part of the Des Moines Wastewater Reclamation Authority. The item was tabled until another time when more information can be provided.
