The Guthrie County Board of Supervisors met in regular session Tuesday.
The Board approved implementing a password manager for county employees, after hearing from Information Technology Administrator Brian Hoffman. He also shared that the system would make it easier for employees to manage their passwords and eliminate some potential risks.
The Board then approved a request by Robert Rehkemper for public records, with Supervisor Mike Dickson making the motion to have the County Attorney’s Office and Sheriff’s Office supply the necessary records in a timely manner. They discussed next steps for an emergency medical services system, and how Iowa Code may allow them to distribute subsidiary funding to the services.
Supervisor Brian Johnson shared that Summit Carbon Solutions was planning to hold an informational meeting on August 27th at the Guthrie Activity Center about a proposed underground pipeline to capture liquid carbon dioxide from ethanol plants and store it in an underground storage facility in North Dakota. The impacted Guthrie County landowners should be receiving a notification of the meeting in the mail soon, and will be able to attend to hear information shared by Summit, and Johnson added that the Iowa Utilities Commission would conduct the meeting.
Finally, the Board approved renewal of Lake Panorama’s tobacco license, effective July 1, 2024 through June 30, 2025.
