The Greene County Fair Queen contest is tonight and so we are introducing the final candidate.

Calleigh Fitzpatrick is going into her junior year at Greene County High School this fall. She is involved in cheerleading for volleyball, football, and basketball; along with track, Ram Fanatic, drama and is part of a local church group. Fitzpatrick has been in 4-H for seven years and was a Clover Kid before that, and she is showing a steer this year. She talks about her favorite part of the Greene County Fair.

“I just love the environment and the people there, like I feel just so welcomed when I go there, I’ve been going there for so long. It’s just kind of feels like a tradition, something that I’ve always done, and I just love the environment. Everybody’s just so friendly and it’s just something that you don’t find in a lot of places.”

Fitzpatrick explains why she is running to be the Greene County Fair Queen.

“I want to be the fair queen because I think I just need to shine light on what the Greene County Fair truly is. I remember people used to go there all the time and it used to be packed full. And now I just feel like there’s so many like open parking spaces and everything, and it’s just not very like full and alive anymore, and I just want to shine light on why you should be coming to the fair and why it’s fun.”

Tonight’s queen contest takes place at 7pm in Clover Hall and Fitzpatrick is running against Grace Hardaway and Addison Gannon.
