The 13-12 AC/GC Chargers are playing in the second round of the Class 2A Region 3 Substate bracket tonight, and are facing off against the number one team in the class, the 37-1 Van Meter Bulldogs.

The teams have already played two games this year, with the Bulldogs taking the first 16-0 and the second 15-3. Reagan Carney leads the Chargers in the hitting categories, with 28 of the team’s 161 hits and 25 of their 103 RBI’s. She also has a .368 batting average, four runs, eight doubles and two home runs. Emerson Van Meter leads in the pitching categories, being in the pitching circle for all of their games, with a 2.80 ERA, 124 1/3 innings pitched and over 100 strikeouts.

For the Bulldogs, Maddie Waldorf leads in all categories. She has 52 of Van Meter’s 360 hits, and 49 of their 309 RBI’s. Waldorf has been in the pitching circle in 23 of the 37 wins for the Bulldogs, with an ERA of 0.66, 243 of the team’s 283 strikeouts and pitched for 127 1/3 innings.
