The Register’s Annual Great Bike Ride Across Iowa starts July 20th, which means an increased presence of bikers out training.
The yearly RAGBRAI event that takes place towards the end of July is approaching quickly and Perry Police Chief Eric Vaughn reminds residents that more bikers are using the trails around town to train. He illustrates that people should expect more activities on the trails due to the weather being nicer. Vaughn claims to simply pay attention while out driving can be helpful, especially since it’s become busier.
“We’re just seeing a lot of activity there, so we just need to be mindful of those riders. We need to be extra cautious and just extra aware of that increased activity.”
Vaughn notes that sometime within the next few months, a trail connector between the Raccoon River Valley Trail and the High Trestle Trail will be completed. RAGBRAI is coming up July 20th-27th.
