The 2024 Dallas County Fair begins today, with the Fair Queen Coronation taking place Friday.
There are five queen candidates for this year’s fair and one of them is going to be a senior at Adel-DeSoto-Minburn High School. Kelsey Greenslade is excited for this year’s fair as she tells Raccoon Valley Radio that she is enjoying getting to know the other candidates and spending time with her friends.
Greenslade says she’s been involved with the fair since a young age, showing livestock, volunteering, having her parents on staff, and is using that experience to hopefully become fair queen.
“I got to interact with all those fair queens in the past and it really showed me the different opportunities that running for fair queen or being the fair queen really could bring to a girl, and I just wanted to be that person that I kind of looked up to when I was younger, for other people.”
Greenslade participates on the ADM Cross Country and Girls Wrestling teams. She is also the boys wrestling manager, has been a 4-H Club Officer for eight years, as well as serving as an ADM FFA Officer, and the South Central District FFA Vice President. Greenslade calls herself “fun-loving” and would be honored to represent Dallas County. The Fair Queen Coronation is set to happen at 3pm on Friday at the Dallas County Fairgrounds, 28057 Fairground Road, in Adel.
