Greater Dallas County Development Alliance Executive Director Rachel Wacker discusses the work shortage across the state of Iowa.

Wacker explains that the organization hears from established Iowa businesses and also newer ones about needing more employees to work. She says that the Greater Dallas County Development Alliance does its best to show people the available jobs within Iowa.

With the recent Tyson Foods closure in Perry, Wacker tells Raccoon Valley Radio that the skills learned from that job makes it easier for the GDCDA to find new employment for people affected by the closure.

“They’re incredibly hard workers with great work ethic, so we’re excited to help these individuals to get into these different opportunities for work.”

Wacker notes that the part of the mission at GDCDA is to properly respond to closures and has been working tirelessly with the City of Perry and Perry Economic Development to navigate through an unprecedented time for the community. The organization is trying to find ways to keep as many people in Perry as possible.
