Des Moines Area Community College Director Eddie Diaz provides the resources available to residents in Perry.

Diaz explains that the mission of DMACC is partnering with the community and helping in the areas that they can. The organization is collaborating with Iowa Workforce Development to transition the services they were offering at the Tyson Foods Pork Plant in Perry, and will continue to deliver them at the DMACC VanKirk Academy. Diaz tells Raccoon Valley Radio how people have been utilizing DMACC’s Resource Center.

“The foot traffic has increased over the last week and we expect it to increase over the next month. It’s our partnership with Iowa Workforce Development, but we’re housing employers that are looking for employees that will be here throughout the month of July.”

Diaz points out that Iowa Workforce Development will be available at DMACC’s VanKirk Academy weekly Mondays through Wednesdays from 10am-4pm to help individuals navigate with unemployment.
