Tonight’s fireworks show in Jefferson has a different venue.

City Administrator Scott Peterson says the free fireworks display is returning to the Greene County Fairgrounds on East Lincoln Way, after Wild Rose Casino and Resort hosted the event for several years. He explains the reason behind the change of location.

“It’s a request from Wild Rose that they had requested that we look at a different location and suggested the fairgrounds. The (Greene County) Fair Board had come through and said that, ‘Yup, in fact this can happen out there.’ We do appreciate them working with us.”

Peterson says the show will begin at dusk, between 9:30 and 10pm, and attendees are encouraged to bring their own seating while parking for free at the fairgrounds. He adds that the city and Wild Rose continue to contribute financially to make the fireworks free for the community to enjoy. This will be the first time that the fireworks show has been at the fairgrounds since 2016.
