The AC/GC Chargers were on the road last night, as they faced the Des Moines Christian Lions in varsity doubleheader action.
In game one for the baseball team, both teams were held scoreless going into the third inning, where the Lions put up 6 runs, then turned around in the fourth to put up 13 runs, and end the game with a 19-0 loss for the Chargers. AC/GC made a better showing in the second game, falling 12-2. The Chargers were scoreless until the third inning, but allowed two runs in the first. The lone run in the third came off the off loaded bases, when senior Andrew Mahaffey was hit by a pitch, and Chase Slaybaugh finished his trip back to home plate.
In the fourth inning, Blaize Dorsey was the one to make it home, thanks to a sacrifice fly by Noah Kading. Mahaffey also had the biggest hit of the night for the Chargers, with a double on the fly ball to left field. The Lions picked up two in the first inning, eight in the third, and two more in the fourth, which gave them the 12-2 victory over AC/GC. The Chargers are now 1-22 on the season, and will be hitting the road once again tonight as they take on the East Union Eagles.
