A deadline is fast approaching for property owners in eastern Greene County for a new grant opportunity.

144 Housing Corridor Initiative President Mary Weaver says grant applications are still being accepted for property owners to remove unsafe, unsightly, or dilapidated structures. This grant was created to help increase property values and improve the overall neighborhood attractiveness of the communities included in 144 CHI, with Dana, Grand Junction, Paton and Rippey. Criteria for eligible projects include a description of the project, along with a timeline, demolition plan and a bid from a contractor.

The funding for the grant was awarded earlier this year by Grow Greene County Gaming Corporation, the non-profit gaming license holder for Wild Rose Casino and Resort in Jefferson.

The deadline to submit an application is July 15th and forms are available at Peoples Bank in Grand Junction, along with the libraries in Paton, Grand Junction and Rippey. Demolition work must be completed by November 30th, with reimbursement payments from the grant to be requested by December 10th.
