The 2nd Annual Porch Fest returns to Jefferson this Sunday.
Jefferson Matters Tower View Team Chair Deb McGinn says the event includes musicians playing on four porches in Jefferson, with the last concert taking place at the Thomas Jefferson Gardens of Greene County. She talks about how the first year of Porch Fest went in 2023.
“Oh we thought it went fabulously well. People were saying right away, ‘I hope you’re doing this again next year.’ People were just excited about it because it was something brand new, a lot of people didn’t even know how to ‘Porch Fest’ in Jefferson. Once they got the hang of it they were going, ‘Well I love this! This is so cool!’ You get together with your friends, you can bring your own adult beverage if you want to, sit in the yard, have a great conversation and great music. So I think we’ve got a great lineup this year.”
The day kicks off at 1:30pm at 206 East Park Street with a solo guitarist from Des Moines with Matt Terronez, followed by the musical duo of Ducharme-Jones at 2:30pm at 103 East Park Street. Then at 3:30pm is guitarist Taylor King performing at 506 South Wilson Avenue and then jazz pianist Tanner Taylor at 4:30pm at 300 South Chestnut Street. The final concert takes place at 5:30pm at Thomas Jefferson Gardens with Heath Alan’s Deep Roots Band.
Attendees are encouraged to bring their own seating to this free event, along with their own beverages and food to each venue and there is minimal walking involved. There will also be a variety of food trucks at Thomas Jefferson Gardens, including 2 P’s N a Pod, Lucky Wife Wine Slushies, and Kate’s Kookies. In case of inclement weather, all of the performances will be at History Boy Theatre Company. Jefferson Telecom and Tower View Team are sponsoring the 2nd Annual Porch Fest.
