After the past several years of having a free fireworks display at Wild Rose Casino and Resort in Jefferson, there will be a change of venue for this year.
City Administrator Scott Peterson says a request from Wild Rose was made to the city to host this year’s free fireworks display at another location. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio, the city asked the Greene County Fair Board if they could move the fireworks show to the fairgrounds, to which the Fair Board agreed. Peterson appreciates the partnership with the Fair Board for this event.
“And I know some people are looking forward to it. It’s a nice place to go watch the fireworks or they can be seen from town, maybe from your backyard this way too. So looking forward to that, and looking forward to celebrating Independence Day and I know it’s a big time for everybody and their families, and barbecues, and all that stuff, and looking forward to a safe holiday.”
Peterson adds Wild Rose is going to continue to financially support this free event, along with the city’s contribution. The fireworks will begin at dusk on Thursday and Peterson reminds everyone to be considerate if you are going to the fairgrounds to watch the fireworks and to not damage the property.
