An event celebrating an iconic character is happening on Monday as part of the Perry Public Library’s Summer Program.

The library announces that a Smokey the Bear Program will be held at the Forest Park Museum with the Dallas County Conservation Board on Monday. Youth Services Librarian Laura Pieper highlights that Smokey turns 80 years old in 2024 and that the library is participating in the National Smokey Bear Reading Challenge, which is an extension of their Adventure Begins at Your Library program.

Families are invited to explore the museum related to Smokey the Bear. The event is taking place at the Forest Park Museum, 14581 K Avenue, just south of Perry beginning at 10:30am. Any questions can be directed to the Perry Public Library at (515)-465-3569.
