The Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship (IDALS) recently released a mandate for a certain kind of livestock.

Several cases of the Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) have not only impacted chickens and turkeys, it has also affected dairy cattle within the state. IDALS has authorized its state code to ban any dairy cattle originating from the HPAI affected herd from exhibitions. However, any dairy cattle that is intended for an exhibition must have a certificate of veterinary inspection issued within seven days of an arrival at an exhibition. Those same dairy cattle must also have undergone the testing protocols within seven days of the animal to be exhibited.

This new mandate is in effect starting July 1st and will remain for a minimum of 60 days and if 60 days have passed without another confirmed case, the order will expire. Click here to see the protocols.
