The Dexter Fire & Rescue was recently given a grant from two organizations to help purchase a medical device.
Emergency Medical Services Captain Eli Canfield tells Raccoon Valley Radio that the Dallas County Foundation and Grow Greene County Gaming Corporation donated a grant in the amount of $14,250 to help buy a Lucas device, which is a mechanical CPR compression machine.
Dexter Fire & Rescue states that the device allows first responders to provide additional life saving measures while simultaneously doing manual chest compressions. Its mechanical use gives the device the ability to provide a more adequate compression, and is traditionally used during cardiac arrest incidents.
