Typically, when teams don’t do well in the regular season, they receive postseason pairings that peg them squarely as first round underdogs in the postseason. That is the case for the Greene County Rams in both softball and baseball.

Coach Tom Kennedy’s Rams are 4-17 in softball and the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union has the Rams going to Monroe to face PCM on July 11 in a Class 2A regional first round contest. The Mustangs are ranked number eight in the June 27 Class 3A rankings from the IGHSAU. The teams have met twice in Heart of Iowa Activities Conference play with the Mustangs winning both.

The Iowa High School Athletic Association sets baseball pairings and Coach Kyle Stalder’s Rams are 1-17 and they’ll meet 3A’s top ranked team in the North Polk Comets on July 12 in Alleman. This is a repeat of the 2023 substate opener for both the Rams and NP with the home team winning 9-0 before advancing to the State Tournament and finishing in second place.

All Greene County postseason games will be broadcast on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com. Game time July 11 and 12 is 7 p.m.
