There are a few last minute deadlines coming up for Greene County Clover Kids and 4-H’ers to be aware of prior to next month’s county fair.

According to Greene County ISU Extension, any Clover Kids that are exhibiting animals at the county fair are encouraged to attend a practice session on Saturday. The day begins with Cattle Kids from 8:30-9:30am at the fairgrounds in Jefferson. Then from 9:30-10:30am is the Birds and Bunnies group, followed by Little Lambs from 10:30-11am.

The Goats Kids will have their practice session from 11-11:30am and Puppy Pack ends the practices from 11:30am-noon. 4-H and Youth Coordinator Samantha Hardaway says while these workshops are not required, they are an opportunity to have the first through third graders practice exhibiting their animals and know what to expect during the county fair.

Additionally, July 1st is another main deadline day for 4-H’ers. Communication and fashion entries are due, along with county raised forms, as well as poultry and rabbit identifications must be finalized by July 1st. All Iowa State Fair livestock entries are also due on Monday. Contact the Greene County Extension Office at 515-386-2138 with any questions.
