The Perry Chamber of Commerce is gearing up to celebrate Independence Day next Thursday.
The 4th of July is approaching quickly and the chamber has been raising money throughout the first six months of the year. According to Perry Chamber Director Lynsi Pasutti, $15,575.97 has been raised for the fireworks drive, which will help out a couple of entities.
“The Junior Class will have their bucket brigade in the parade, so grab a couple of dollars to hand off to them. Some of that will go to the fireworks, the other half will go to the Junior Class fundraising for their After Prom.”
Pasutti mentions that the goal was $18,000 but is thankful for everyone who contributed. She adds that the parade will begin shortly after 9am next Thursday at East Perry Plaza then will move along Willis Avenue two miles to Pattee Park. The park will include food vendors, live music by Stranger Than Fiction 6-9:30pm, with the fireworks show to end the evening.
