Many may forget that their local libraries offer more than just books.

Mary J Barnett Memorial Library Director Jerri Hawkins reminds patrons of their other services, like audiobooks, hotspots for internet access, and the Iowa Library Adventure Pass. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio how patrons can take advantage of that.

“Do know that your library card gets you free access to those places with the Iowa Libraries Adventure Pass. And the tickets can be booked on our website to get you free access to three different venues, and you can go to each one of those one time a year with your library card. So that can save your family quite a bit of money.”

Hawkins mentions that the three venues that individuals can go to for free include the Des Moines Children’s Museum, Blank Park Zoo and Science Center of Iowa. She adds that the Adventure Pass will allow for two adults and two children to attend each place free once per year. To sign up, patrons just need their library card, and to visit the library’s website.
