The West Central Valley Wildcats claimed second place at the Coal Miner’s Classic softball tournament on Saturday where they defeated the Melcher-Dallas Saints 9-7. The Wildcats were well rested after the trip to Melcher-Dallas, as they scored six runs in the first making their presence known. The Saints, would begin to inch their way back into the fight, scoring a run in the bottom of the second and four in the third. With only a one run lead going into the fourth, West Central valley would bounce back scoring two runs in the fourth while holding the Saints to just one run going into the fifth. The Wildcats would score their final run in the top of the fifth and would lock in defensively only allowing the Saints one more run in the bottom of the sixth bringing the final score to 9-7 making the Wildcats 11-14.

The Wildcats hope to use this win’s momentum against the Madrid as they host the Tigers today beginning at 7PM.
