The AC/GC Chargers were on the road Friday night, and fell to the Woodward-Granger Hawks in a close 8-6 game.
Neither team scored in the first inning, and the Hawks were able to pick up one run in the bottom of the second, before the Chargers jumped into the lead. In the top of the third inning, Becca Littler was walked to start off the inning, with Jenna Rowley hitting a grounder to short stop, and Mersadez Richter and Reagan Carney were hit by pitch. Littler, Rowley and Richter all were able to make it around the bases, and put AC/GC in the lead 3-1.
The Chargers held the Hawks scoreless in the bottom of the inning, but were held scoreless themselves in the fourth, while Woodward-Granger racked up five runs to take the 6-3 lead. The Chargers picked up two runs in the fifth inning, with the RBI’s coming from Emerson Van Meter and Belle Fagan, and Richter and Carney making their way around the bases, bringing to a one run game.
The Hawks snatched another run to bring it to a 7-5 game in the bottom of the fifth inning, and AC/GC was unable to score in the sixth, while the Hawks were able to extend the lead to 8-5. The final run of the game came from Van Meter, who smacked a bomb out of the park for the single RBI home run. The Chargers fall to 8-11 on the season. The team will return to action Monday as they host cross county rivals, the Panorama Panthers.
