The Perry Jayettes traveled to Urbandale to take on the J-Hawks and it was the Aubrey Schuman show right from the start. Two outs were disrupted by a walk by Kalley Whelchel and then the final out of the first inning set down the Jayettes. Tunink responded with a clean inning of her own including a strikeout. Schuman set down the Jayettes 1-2-3 in the top of the second and then the J-Hawks got to work at the plate.

Bri Tigges the start shortstop rocketed one past Tunink to lead off the inning, This was followed up by Kyra Kain laying down a perfect bunt. Alexa Richmond got jammed for a hit loading the bases and the Jayettes were in serious danger. Tunink then proceeded to force a pair of groundouts only allowing a couple of runs to escape real damage.

Urbandale got back to it in the next inning scoring another two runs this time with a little more power. Sarah Webster led off the inning with a swinging bunt then narrowly stole second. It was on the next pitch that 1st basemen Bella Oberbroeckling shot one past Sydney Barkley in the left field going all the way to the wall. Bri Tigges came. up a couple of hitters later and crushed a fly ball straight up towards Barkley again for a sacrifice fly and the fourth run of the contest for the J-Hawks.

Kalley Whelchel lead off the top of the fourth knowing that the Jayettes needed to respond. She moved over on a groundout by Emmalee Bell and then stole third with some heads up base running. With two outs Maddy Hollingsworth shot a groundball past the secondbasemen to knock in Whelchel.

Unfortunately, Perry wouldn’t be able to muster much offense again; that would be the only time the Jayettes would get a runner to second base all game. Both pitchers would bear down facing the minimum in the final innings. Aubrey Schuman shut the door only allowing 3 total hits and issuing 2 walks and giving up just the one run.

Perry will host Saydel at 6 pm tonight looking to get back in the win column after a 7 game skid.
