The AC/GC Chargers are hosting an unfamiliar opponent in varsity doubleheader action tonight.

Chargers Head Baseball Coach Taylor Morris says that he and Durant’s Head Coach Colin Meyer know each other through family members, and discussed the doubleheader as a way for both teams to get some games in while Durant was on their way to Omaha to watch the College World Series.

The Chargers are 0-15 on the season after a close game with the Ogden Bulldogs on Monday, and the Wildcats are 11-10 on the season after their Monday night loss to Northeast Rebels. This will also be the first time that the two teams have faced off against each other, so it will be interesting to see how the games turn out. For the Wildcats, Colby Gast, Connor Schwartz or Ryan Wulf are the likely starters for the mound, while the Chargers have been having Tegan Slaybaugh man the mound, though Andrew Mahaffey and Ben Franzeen are also likely candidates to pitch for the team.

The first game begins at 5pm, with the second to start at 7pm. Pregame coverage by the Raccoon Valley Radio Sports Network will begin half an hour before first pitch for the second game, with coverage to be carried on the KKRF2 online live stream.
