Greene County softball and baseball lost one-sided games in Heart of Iowa Activities Conference action in Nevada to the Cubs on Monday night. The baseball final was 16-1 in four innings by the 15 run rule while the softball game on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com was 13-1 in four innings by the 12 run rule.

Coach Tom Kennedy’s softball Rams led 1-0 before the Cubs scored 13  unanswered runs to improve to 6-15 overall and 2-9 in the conference. The Rams are 4-12 overall and 3-8 in the league. Freshman Alivya Smith had a run scoring single and junior Daniele Madsen had a base hit and that was it for hits by the Rams. Freshman Alaina Heard was the starting pitcher and Madsen pitched in relief. The Rams unofficially had seven errors.

Coach Kyle Stalder’s baseball Rams are 1-12 on the season and 1-10 in HOIAC games. Rams with hits were junior Isaac Carman, sophomore Teagan Chisholm, junior Gavryn Winters, and junior Camden Jacobs, and all were singles. Winters pitched the first 2-1/3 and Jacobs threw 1-1/3 innings. The Rams allowed 12 hits and six walks, and the defense was charged with three errors.
