The Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Softball team split the doubleheader on Monday in Urbandale.
The Tigers lost to the J-Hawks in Game One by a final score of 4-3. Urbandale held ADM scoreless in the top half of the first inning before scoring three in the bottom to lead 3-0 after one. The J-Hawks added another run in the bottom of the second to extend the lead to 4-0. The game remained that score until the Tigers captured three in the top of the sixth inning, but couldn’t score anymore to complete the rally in Game One. ADM had six hits and two errors in the game, while Urbandale had four hits on one error.
In Game Two, the J-Hawks scored first in the bottom of the third to lead 1-0. The Tigers tied the game in the top of fifth before Urbandale scored two in the bottom of the inning to take a 3-1 advantage. However, that didn’t last long as ADM matched with two runs across in the top of the sixth. The game went extra innings and the Tigers got two in the top of the eighth to win 5-3.
ADM’s Senior Cameran Smith pitched all eight innings and had two strikeouts. She also had an RBI, while Sophomore Macy Person had three hits, one RBI, and one run scored.
ADM is now 17-8 on the season and will have today off before traveling to North Polk tomorrow for a conference battle against the leading Comets.
