Two teams struggling for high school softball victories meet tonight on KG98 and streaming on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com. It’s Greene County at Nevada High School set for a 7:30 p.m. start in the second of two Heart of Iowa Activities Conference meetings between these two teams. The Cubs won 13-3 in just five innings by the 10-run rule late last month in Jefferson when nine Ram errors greatly aided Nevada. Overall, Nevada is 5-15 and just 1-9 in conference play while the Rams are 4-11 on the season and 3-7 in the HOIAC.

Coach Tom Kennedy’s team has shown the ability to hit the ball with a .302 team batting average and a scoring average of nearly five runs per game. Junior Payton Kokenge leads the way with an even .400 batting average, followed by freshmen Alivya Smith and Sara Morlan at .333, junior Kaycee Pittman .312, freshman Bellah Johnson 306, and junior Violet Reedy .300.
