Perry High School has recently hired a new Athletic Director that will start soon.

According to Perry Superintendent Clark Wicks, the board named Tina Lutterman the new AD during the June 10th meeting. Lutterman will be overseeing the operations from Katelyn Whelchel, who served for the last two years. She comments on how working with students in the culinary department led her passion to helping kids.

“So glad to have had that chance to get to know kids in that capacity and teach them some new skills and learn right alongside them. It was a great learning experience for me and just seeing the way kids step up and we were able to do some really great activities. It’s really the reason I switched over to coaching Cross Country because I enjoy those kids and I wanted to get to see them compete in a different way.”

Lutterman has been coaching the Perry Softball team for the last 15 seasons, has coached Cross Country for the past year, as well as serving as the IJAG Education Specialist for 12 years. She credits Whelchel and Tom Lipovac for assisting her during the transition in order to make it as smooth as possible. Lutterman will officially begin her new role on July 1st.
