If people haven’t been to Seven Hills Park this year, there is some new equipment located near the entrance.
Greene County Emergency Management Coordinator Doug Hawn tells Raccoon Valley Radio the new 250 foot emergency communications tower has been erected. Greene County Sheriff Jack Williams has previously said a new tower was needed because the state was switching to a new program and the current equipment would not be compatible.
Greene County Conservation Director Tanner Scheuermann advises park visitors to continue to use caution around the new tower.
“So just be aware when you’re out there, you know using the parks like any of our parks that these things are happening and be safe. Don’t be walking up and, ‘Hey what’s going on?” you know just be respectful of the folks that are working there.”
The total cost of the project is $3.3 million that was approved by the Greene County Board of Supervisors through an essential purpose bond. Hawn adds additional equipment is still needed to be attached and placed with the tower before it can be activated.
