Coach Tom Kennedy’s Greene County softball team steps outside the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference tonight for a short trip east to Ogden. The Rams are 5-10 on the season after falling at home to Roland-Story (Story City) on Wednesday in a game heard on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com. Ogden was 9-8 prior to hosting Earlham in a West Central Activities Conference doubleheader on Thursday. The teams met early this season at the Ogden tournament with the Bulldogs winning that contest by a final of 8-3.
The Rams have no seniors in their starting lineup and most nights they start three juniors, two sophomores and five freshmen. Coach Kennedy has been pleased with how well this youthful group has hit the ball with a team batting average above the .300 mark.
After tonight, the Rams play on Monday in Heart of Iowa Activities Conference action in Nevada. Monday’s varsity game in Nevada is set for 7:30 p.m. and will be broadcast on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.
